Colleen writes Real, Relatable Romance with just the right mix of heat, humor, and heart—because love should feel real, messy, and absolutely worth it.

“I’m going to kiss you, Erin.”

“I’m going to kiss you, Erin.”

His smile falls. He slowly stands up and walks toward me. I stay still like I did when he was in my living room at the beginning of our date. I’m looking up. He’s looking down. A current starts to flow through me, through us. He takes a step toward me. I take a step back until I’m flush against the counter.

He’s going to kiss me.

I want him to kiss me.

He puts his hands under my armpits and lifts me onto the counter. I’m closer to his height now, but he still towers over me. I lick my lips. What will he taste like? What will someone other than Kyle taste like?

“I’m going to kiss you, Erin.”

My throat constricts, and I can’t stop staring at his lips.

“You okay with that?”

I nod.

He leans down, placing his cheek on my cheek. He inhales like he’s trying to get my scent deep into his body. I close my eyes, letting this moment be whatever it’s going to be. Don’t overthink Erin. His nose swipes down my cheekbone, and then his lips find mine. I smile at the contact. He wants to kiss me; this beautiful man wants me.
