A Concert, A Book, and a Moment That Meant Everything

Last weekend, I went to a concert to celebrate two huge milestones: the release of my newest book, Perfect, To Them, and my 18th wedding anniversary. Honestly, time is flying—but my heart feels full.

Perfect, To Them is officially out in the world today! If you’ve been following my journey, you know I’ve never sugarcoated the challenges of publishing. Yes, I love writing, but the grind can be tough—especially in a world that seems to be reading less and scrolling more.

But here’s the thing: I’ve kept going. Because deep down, I write to help people feel something. And with this book, I feel proud. I created something that means something to me—something I hope brings joy, entertainment, and maybe even comfort to someone else. It’s a legacy I’m proud to leave, something my kids can hold one day and say, “This was my mom’s heart.”

One of the most special moments of this release? A word from my grandmother. She’s a tough cookie and an even tougher critic. When I started writing, she didn’t hold back—she told me I had a long way to go. That honesty hurt, but it also pushed me to grow.

So when she read Perfect, To Me and said,
“Wow, this book is really good, Colleen. How do we get more people to read it?”
…well, I nearly cried.

I dedicated Perfect, To Them to her—with a very cheeky note, since this one is much spicier than the last!

If you’ve ever had someone push you to be better (even when it stung), you’ll understand how much that moment meant to me.
